Funeral Planning Guide
Things to do when someone passes away:
Call funeral home to pick up body and plan to meet with them about the funeral.
Review conduct of funerals of CSHC (www.cshcmembers.com/conduct-at-funerals)
Call Ronnie Barnes to discuss and approve the arrangements and time and date for service at CSHC Campground. Lunch is served at noon. Usually, funeral begins at 2:00pm followed by graveside service. If only having graveside service, this usually also starts at 2:00pm.
Select location of funeral: Campground Church Sanctuary, Chapel or Graveside.
Select and contact everyone selected to participate in funeral and confirm their attendance and make any changes that are necessary.
Preacher for the service
Someone to lead the singing
Select preacher for graveside (can be same as service)
Select Pall bearers: 6 to 8
Select Honorary Pall Bearers (optional)
Select person to lead visitation service if having one.
If service will be graveside only, select preacher, song leader and date/time of service.
Select florist to arrange for flowers for the casket.
Call Janet Keldahl to arrange a time to select burial plot.
Decide if you want a “drop in” visitation or a service for visitation. Determine time and date of visitation (either night before or day of funeral. If choosing a service, select someone to conduct that service.
Select songs to be sung at funeral: Minimum of 5 to 6, selection can be left to song leader. If you would like to have printed books of the songs for the funeral.
Write down any scripture or events or remembrances that you wish to be said at funeral and give to the Minister selected.
If displaying pictures during funeral, there are a few small tables and easels available in Sanctuary. Contact Bobby Reese for access.
